Dear Dr. Cerf:

Hanan  suggested I  talk with  you  about job  opportunities.   I  am
enclosing  a collection of things  for you: a  biographical sketch, a
copy of  my  manuscript and  a review  of  it, and  the  introductory
section of a proposal draft on which I am working. 

The  manuscript is  quite  incomplete, being  copied last  November.  
Since  then I have  been teaching it  again and have  thought of many
ways of  improving  the presentation.    Several sections  are  quite
incomplete and the final chapter is missing.  I have enclosed a short
blurb outlining  some  of the  changes.  I  would like  to  have  the
manuscript  back,  since  it  is one  of  the  few  copies  still  in
captivity. The  book will be published by  McGraw-Hill; the review is
for a competing publisher. 

The proposal is  current and grows  out of  my teaching and  research
interests.  I  am talking with Dr. Suppes about  possible funding for
this project. 

Since  this is such a  massive deluge of material,  what I suggest is
that I  call you later  this week after  you might  have a chance  to
digest  some  of it.    At  that  time we  could  perhaps  set up  an
appointment to talk further.
